Karla Alexander
"Lift the Quilts Out of Your Stash"

You will be looking at your stash in a whole new way and actually start using your fabric rather than just admiring it! Enjoy the confidence you’ll gain by exploring traditional and untraditional quilt methods by adding your own twist!  A trunk show with lots and lots of quilts will illustrate may different styles of quilts as well as subjects discussed.

Workshop February 10
Orderly Chaos

It’s always so much fun to discover a block that is fast and easy to piece that inspires you to make them again and again. That’s what you’ll find in this workshop!

While anyone can  duplicate someone else’s design, you’ll  learn to re-work these blocks, making them 100% your own.

You’ll be happy to see how one simple block method will allow you to design table runners/toppers/patchwork for clothing, hand bags and more!

This workshop has it all: mastery, mystery, ease, playfulness and endless options.

Cheryl Malkowski
"Following the Creative Path"

This will be an hour-long trunk show in which we will hear about how Cheryl came to invent the chenille color stick technique and about the inspiration for her other four books. She says, “Every quilt has a story…My hope is for quilters to be who they are and follow their dreams. Sometimes they come true!”

Workshop March 10
Doodle Quilting

In this class, students use Cheryl’s best-selling book, Doodle Quilting, for exploring quilt motifs and how they work together.

We will explore options for continuous line quilting for backgrounds, all-over patterns, borders, and more.

Once you have these patterns stored in your muscle memory, they will easily transfer to your quilting.

Natalie Barnes
"beyond the reef"

Natalie is the owner/designer for beyond the reef, a pattern-design company that she
started one rainy north shore morning on a lanai in Hanalei, Kauai, while drinking coffee
with author Jill Marie Landis. As a little girl, Natalie learned to sew, knit, and crochet
from her grandmother. After a successful career in the demanding commercial/corporate
interior design field in Los Angeles, Natalie decided it was time to live a new dream, and
put her talents to work in another area. She has never looked back. She is author of A
Modern Twist, by Martingale/TPP with contributions by Angela Walters. Her first fabric
line, Hand Maker for Windham Fabrics, is being shipped to quilt shops this Fall 2016.
Having always lived on the beach, she draws her inspiration for color and design from
the sea, the sky, and the land.

Workshop August 11
String Piecing Boot Camp

This is a concept class, or a theory class. The focus in this class will be on string piecing. We'll work with free form and foundation piecing. Then we'll take a look at what can be done with these string piecing elements. How about some appliqué? Triangles? Block arrangements? Half square triangle strips. Last but not least, we'll be talking about color and contrast and the use of both of these while working with string piecing.

**this is a working techniques class – we are not making a quilt, we are honing our techniques
